Meet

Halle Crotty

Secretary

Shea-Lynn was my best friend for 10 years. She was the kind of friend you find only once in a lifetime. When I hear the word ‘soulmate’, her face and contagious smile are the first things that come to mind. My childhood was built on our friendship and the special bond we shared; she was my other half. The universe knew that we couldn’t be one person because it would be catastrophic; that’s why we had to be split into two. Regardless, we were attached at the hip, as if we were one, and spent many years growing up together.

Losing Shea when I was 16 years old was by far the hardest thing I’ve ever gone through. It was like losing a limb. I lost a part of myself that day. And learning that this tragedy was preventable, made the heartache even heavier.

Shea-Lynn’s Butterfly Effect is spreading such an important message, and that’s why I am a part of this organization. Knowing that tragedy, pain, and loss are preventable gives me hope that other families and friends can take action to protect themselves and their loved ones.

Though I am young and still working on my education, I have much to contribute to this cause. People underestimate the power of a young voice. Being able to connect with younger and new drivers is crucial. That’s why I want to use my voice and my story to demonstrate the importance of buckling up, not only for yourself but for the people who love you.
